The RP16 is available in various lengths, including 2250, 2500, and 3000 millimeters for extra tall doors. The device can be installed either inside or outside the door, depending on the configuration of the door’s mushroom mold. If the door has a mushroom mold on the outside, the RP16 must be installed on the inside. However, if the door has a rebated center, there is flexibility to install the RP16 either inside or outside.
Before starting the installation process, it’s crucial to measure the door’s length and cut the RP16 to be three millimeters shorter than the door. This ensures that the RP16 won’t jam against the door jamb if there is any side-to-side movement. Additionally, special attention must be paid to the gap in the center join between the two doors to allow for proper functioning of the device.
To start the installation process, cut the RP16 to the appropriate length with a drop saw. From there, mark the rebate for the latch and take out the blade to avoid damaging it during rebate cutting. Fill the fixing holes with screws, and then fit the RP16 onto one door, adjusting its position as needed until it is in the desired location.
Once you’re happy with the position, hold the RP16 flat against the door and fill each fixing hole with screws. Finally, check to see that the door closes properly.
Overall, the installation of an RP16 on double doors is a straightforward process. By following these steps, you can ensure that your double doors are not only functional but also secure.
