Welcome! You've come to the right place to start your Australian Government National Solar Schools Program. This program used to be called Green Vouchers.

Grants of up to $50 000 (GST exclusive) to install solar and other renewable power systems, solar hot water systems, rainwater tanks and a range of energy efficiency measures are now available to most schools in Australia.

We make it easy for your school to benefit from this grant. But first, make sure you aren't wasting precious time, so check to see if your school is eligible for the grant first National Solar Schools Eligibility Guidelines.

STEP 1 - Register your Interest

Complete a Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts (DEWHA) General Registration and select a user name and password.

Log In to the DEWHA's Grants System, select, complete and submit the National Solar Schools Registration.

DEWHA advise that they are taking approximately 20 days to process your registration of interest. They will confirm whether you are eligible to apply under National Solar Schools and accept your registration and will also confirm the amount of funding your school is eligible to claim. The maximum is $50,000 ex GST per school of which $20,000 must be for solar panels.



STEP 2 - Plan your project

Give us a call! One of our friendly and ever so helpful Technical Designers will come to visit your school. We will conduct a Technical Assessment that will show you how to gain the most environmental benefits for students, teachers and staff whilst reducing your ongoing running costs. We will provide you with the information about various options, explain the benefits of each, the best design for your 2kW solar panel system, full costings for all the options and an estimate of the time required to complete your school's upgrade.

Consider what issues you would like to address using your Grant. Take a peak at these four sample packages. They will give you an idea of how to maximise value from your grant:

STEP 3 - Apply for the Grant

Once you have received confirmation of your eligibility, log in to the DEWHA website to download and complete the Claim Form from the Grants Menu.

Email it to nationalsolarschools@environment.gov.au.

When your claim has been accepted you will be notified that a Funding Agreement is available (estimated to be 8 weeks). Log in to DEWHA's website and download the Funding Agreement from the Grants Menu.

Print and sign two copies of the Funding Agreement and mail them to the National Solar Schools Team.

DEWHA will countersign both copies of the agreements, return one to you and deposit your grant into your nominated bank account.
